This app works perfectly and basically has no downsides. I’m kind of irritated that anyone gave it a bad review, because it’s a great watermark-free alternative to all the other paid apps out there.

Amazing. A free app store based Blu-Ray player that actually works? Wow. Very impressed. A little tiny bit slow to start, but otherwise, no complaints. Amazing.
Its the only player in the App Store. Downloaded it today and started watching bluray movies from an external player. Worked great, no problems. I would have paid for this!
I upgraded the SuperDrive in my 2010 MacBook Pro to a Blu-ray drive. Reading data discs were no problem, but playing movies required an app that supported the movie discs. I looked into a lot of paid apps but decided to try this one first. Glad I did. It’s a solid app that does exactly what I wanted it to do: play Blu-ray movies. I’ve run a few movies through it and so far no issues whatsoever. I am completely satisfied with this product and thank the developers for their hard work.
I’ve never bothered to write a review, but this app warrants praise. This app wasn’t here before, so I’m thankful it’s here now. No need to buy aiseesoft, aurora, macgo, or whatever else. Didn’t have to worry about downloading from some sketchy site and installing a virus. It’s a legitimate program straight from the app store, and it’s FREE!!! Download, install, insert blu ray (into your third party blu ray optical drive since apple doesn’t make one), and DONE! I’ve only used it to play the movie, which is all I need it to do. Unsure if it’s capable of accesing all the special features, but movie playback was my only concern. Leawo, you guys are dope! Faith in humanity restored. peace… Addendum: This app also plays .mkv files… woah! One concern worth mentioning: After installing this app, it becomes the default video file player, supplanting QuickTime. If this bugs you, you can right click on any video file (i.e m4v, mp4) and select Get Info > Open With > QuickTime Player > Change All. If you chose, for example, mp4, this will revert QuickTime as the default media player for all mp4 files. Repeat the process as needed for any other video file extensions that Leawo preempted. Hope this helps...
This app is what I’ve been waiting for my whole Mac life! With a much better GUI than VLC, it does the same thing but better. It is the ideal media player for Mac, with the ability to play anything, especially Blu-Ray video.
It’s great to have a Blu-Ray player finally on my Mac! I’m using the LG Blu-Ray burning that I used to use on my PC, and did not have to reboot or anything.
I downloaded it, installed it and it doesn’t do anything useful. Opened it up, it sees the BluRay but can’t play it. Every time I click play it just sits there or opens a file dialog box and the AACS file (and everything else on disk) is grayed out. I spent 15 minutes trying to see if I was missing anything but gave up. Now I’m wading through VLC and the morass of alternative options that are much more complicated. I RTFM, and worked as a software developer for a while so it’s not like I don’t know how to use software. Just doesn’t seem to work.
It didnt work for me. It didnt even open. Please fix it. This would be a nice thing to have, but only if it works.
Finally a working, free blu ray player for Mac! 100% working with my MbPro Retina with an external blu ray drive. The look and feel is outdated (not up to latest Yosemite/El Capitan) but no worries, it is still amazing.
I don’t know whether there is a compatibiity problem with El Capitan, or what. But I cannot get this app to expand to full-screen. The four little arrow “thingies” in the lower right corner turn blue when I swipe over them, but they do not expand the picture. There is no VIEW option in the apps menu, so how the heqq do you fill the screen? The Blu-Ray looks great and I appreciate being able to play both US and European discs but there is no use having HD video playing in a 15” window on a 65” screen. I’ll be happy to upgrade the stars (rating) when I can use my entire monitor to see it.
El Capitan + Samsung Blu-ray drive + TV series on Blu-ray = doesn’t function
This app is so awesome, love that I am able to watch my blu-rays on my Mac, thank you guys, get this APP!
I have a Core I7 iMac w/16gb RAM. Application will launch, will not open any files on any Blu Ray discs I’ve tried. A true case of “you get what you pay for”, so, basically a waste of time.
First, I did not have the problem The__Ogre did. I suspect he was confused by the program’s rather unintuitive interface. Sometimes it shows you a file-select dialog, and he may have tried to open one of the internal files rather than just clicking Open. The program plays just fine for me, with one glaring exception; it seems unable to access the disc menu. It just starts playing the main feature. Thus, I was unable to access the Special Features that are included on most all discs these days. There is a “Menu…" option available, but it is greyed out. I don’t know if I am missing something, but this is a major drawback for me.
I was able to play a bluray disc, and it appeared to be good quality playback. absolutely no menu support at all, just plays main feature. interface could be confusing to some the way it opens discs, but not a deal breaker. good for free, i wouldn’t pay for it though.
Useless! Dosn’t work with Blu-ray disk. Dont waste your time!
The app was confusing at first, definitley not user friendly. Once you get the hang of it though it is a life saver! I am using a macbook pro with retina and an external LG blu ray drive. When you open the app you should see a box with the name of your movie. simply double cick and it will bring you to all the files within the disc. This is where it got confusing, but the good news is, all you have to do is look at the bottom right and click ‘open’ and your movie should load. This worked for me on many movies, and I was able to even see the title menu and navigate to chapters, scene selection, pt 1, pt2, etc, just as you would on a normal tv. The hitch came when I put in a blu ray disc for a tv show, instead of a movie. It does not play the ad’s like it normally would before bringing you to the disc menu, not to mention that it doesnt even do that! I get no menu at all, it simply just plays the first episode immediatley. This wouldnt be all that bad if it was in some ‘play all’ mode, but that is not the case either. For me, as soon as I watch or skip past the first episode on the disc, it reruns that episode. there is no way to access later episodes. This app is great for watching movies even though it may be frustrating to work at first, but it is terrible for watching tv shows as their is no menu for those.
Decided to give this app a try since it was free. (Not too many choices in the App Store for Blu-Ray Player software). This app downloaded in less than a minute. Contrary to what I’ve read in some of the other reviews the UI is quite intuitive. I inserted a Blu-Ray movie disk and it took about 15-25 seconds to pop open the main viewer window. From then on it looked like any other player software I have used in the past on Mac’s or Windows platform. I tested the playback by using movies with a lot of fast action, full screen. No shearing what so ever. No Pixelating. No drop outs. I ran 3 different action movies to test this software. The playback was very smooth in all of the movies played. No noticeable stutter and the picture was gorgeous. The sound was very clear and in sync with the movie. Being a Mac purest the sound was all courtesy of the internal speakers and sound processor that is part of the Mac main board. To sum up, this is a very good app and the price cannot be beat. If you are an occasional Blu-Ray movie watcher on your Mac, I would recommend this app to anyone. My configuration: iMac 27 late 2012, i7 3.4GHz, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048MB El Capitain 10.11.2, Pawtek UltraSlim External USB 3.0 Slot-Loading BDXL 3D Blu-Ray Writer/burner/player.
When is Apple going to just develop its own blu-ray player and ditch this third party garbage? Disc menu is completely unavaible which causes disc errors for movies with two discs (for me it is the Lord of the Rings extended editions). It is also very confusing to get the movie to play in the first place. I would recommend purchasing another program until Apple decides to stop being greedy and forcing you to buy movies from iTunes.
